Julius Mikula ready to race his home Grand Prix in Loket

CRD Motorsport TM pilot Julius Mikula is gearing up for his home Grand Prix this weekend at the renowned Loketské Serpentiny circuit in Loket. The 2025 season marks his second year competing in the MX2 class, and the young Czech talent has shown flashes of potential throughout various parts of the season.

After a strong EMX125 campaign in 2022, Mikula signed with the MJC Yamaha team for the following season. Although he didn’t quite replicate his previous form, he still delivered some solid results. He then made the bold decision to move directly into the professional ranks, bypassing the EMX250 class and stepping up to MX2 with the Osicka MX Team. Although he didn’t compete at every round in 2024, the eight rounds he lined up for provided vital experience for Mikula, which has been displayed through his riding this season.

This season has been a step in the right direction, with Mikula surpassing his previous best moto result (10th) on multiple occasions. Four 8th-place finishes and a career-best 9th overall in Spain highlight the steady progress he’s made. At the most recent Grand Prix in Finland, Mikula showed his potential in Moto 1, running as high as 4th in the opening laps. Although a crash cut his race short and prevented the result he was aiming for, it was another clear sign that the Czech Republic has a rising talent in the world of motocross.

With seven MXGP rounds remaining, Mikula currently holds 18th in the championship standings – keep an eye out for the #20 in the final stages of the season.
