Gyan Doensen to make MX2 debut at the MXGP of Flanders

It has been confirmed that Gabriel SS24 KTM Factory Juniors pilot Gyan Doensen will make his MX2 debut at the iconic sandy Lommel circuit next weekend, at the MXGP of Flanders. The young Dutch talent moved up to the EMX250 class in 2025 after an impressive EMX125 campaign last year, where he finished second in the championship, only seven points short of the title.

Doensen has shown flashes of brilliance in his maiden EMX250 season, most notably securing a pair of second-overall finishes at Ernée and Kegums. As the EMX250 championship approaches the end of its season, the opportunity has arisen for him to step up to the MX2 class in Belgium, an ambition Doensen has had his sights set on for some time.

“I’m super happy and thankful to make my MX2 debut in Lommel” he told Cult Moto. “It’s close to home and a legendary sand track – I know it will but tough but I see it as a new experience which will make me better.”

Despite this being his first season aboard a 250cc machine, Doensen has made it clear he aims to become a full-time MX2 rider sooner rather than later. While the ambition is there, the Dutchman is also aware of the step up in competition—as well as the handful of variables that will be new to him when he lines up in Lommel.

“I have no expectations” he affirmed. “I want to ride how I can and show some good things to put me in the picture for MX2 teams.”

With the KTM Group’s MX2 setup still uncertain for next season, it will be interesting to see how Doensen measures up on debut—especially as he is a highly regarded talent within the KTM ranks.
