Round 14 of the FIM Motocross World Championship is wrapped up here in the Czech Republic. After Saturday’s mud fest, the weather was far more favourable for Sunday’s racing – Lucas Coenen continued to chip away at Romain Febvre’s points lead, while Simon Längenfelder extended his already sizable advantage in the MX2 class.

MXGP Moto 1 saw Red Bull KTM Factory Racing De Carli rider Lucas Coenen put on a clinic in front of the Czech crowd. The young Belgian pulled the holeshot and built a 20-second gap by the middle stages of the race. He eventually crossed the line with a 16-second advantage over Ruben Fernandez and Jan Pancar. Championship points leader Romain Febvre crashed on the final lap while running second, dropping him to fifth and allowing Coenen to close the gap in the standings to just seven points heading into Moto 2.

MXGP Moto 1 Results:

In MXGP Moto 2, Fantic Factory Racing’s Glenn Coldenhoff grabbed the holeshot ahead of red plate holder Romain Febvre and led for the opening two laps before Febvre made his way past. Moto 1 winner Lucas Coenen started in third and shadowed Coldenhoff for thirteen laps before moving into second. Febvre claimed the Moto 2 victory ahead of his championship rival, but it was the rookie who stood on the top step of the overall podium.

MXGP Overall Classification:

Championship leader Simon Längenfelder dominated MX2 Moto 1, with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing De Carli rider pulling the holeshot and immediately checking out from the rest of the field. He eventually won by a margin of 16.5 seconds ahead of his teammate, Sacha Coenen.

MX2 Moto 1 Results:

MX2 Moto 2 saw Kawasaki Racing’s Mathis Valin grab the holeshot and lead the early stages before 2023 MX2 champion Andrea Adamo made an incredible pass around the outside exiting pit lane to take over at the front. Simon Längenfelder steadily worked his way up from fourth to second by lap thirteen, finishing ahead of Valin — who claimed his first-ever overall podium in the MX2 class with 3-3 race finishes.
