The ACU British Championship heads to Landrake this weekend for Round Five of the series. Fans have every reason to keep their eyes on the racing, as the MX2 title fight tightened significantly after the previous round at Preston Docks. Billy Askew failed to capitalise on the absence of Tommy Searle, who was sidelined due to an injury sustained in an Arenacross crash, suffering broken vertebrae. As a result, Searle retained the red plate by a single point, meaning the Dirt Store Triumph duo head to Landrake holding first and second in the championship standings.
Charlie Heyman’s podium at Preston Docks has slingshotted him into title contention, as he now trails Searle by just six points. Heyman is tied on points with the GasGas ASA United rider, whose consistent top-five finishes have allowed him to capitalise on the shake-up at the top. Gabriel SS24 rider Gyan Doensen also remains in the hunt. While the Dutchman has struggled to find consistency across both motos, he’s shown flashes of brilliance in 2025 – scoring two podiums in the EMX250 Championship, and has the pedigree to seriously contend for the MX2 title.
MX2 Points:
| 1st | Tommy Searle | 131 | Triumph |
| 2nd | Billy Askew | 130 | Triumph |
| 3rd | Charlie Heyman | 125 | Husqvarna |
| 4th | Ben Mustoe | 125 | GasGas |
| 5th | Gyan Doensen | 110 | KTM |
The MX1 title fight isn’t as exciting on paper or judging by previous results, as Conrad Mewse has run the table so far – winning every moto and building a 31-point lead over Chambers Racing’s Adam Sterry. However, Sterry has shown impressive speed recently at the MXGP rounds and has even managed to get the jump on Mewse out of the gate at previous British rounds. There could be closer racing this weekend at Landrake. Mewse has also been managing a wrist injury that’s limited his midweek training, but despite the setback, he has continued to put on a clinic every weekend.
Josh Gilbert currently sits third in the standings, 38 points behind Sterry. The Lexa MX rider is battling an illness, which has forced him to sit out recent MXGP rounds. However, before the health setbacks, Gilbert had shown strong form, landing on the podium in four motos. Meanwhile, South African rider Tristan Purdon heads into the weekend with momentum, coming off his first overall podium of the season at Preston Docks.
MX1 Points:
| 1st | Conrad Mewse | 200 | Honda |
| 2nd | Adam Sterry | 169 | KTM |
| 3rd | Josh Gilbert | 131 | Honda |
| 4th | Tristan Purdon | 129 | Husqvarna |
| 5th | Jamie Carpenter | 97 | Honda |
Lastly, the 125cc class sees the top three riders in the championship separated by fewer than 20 points. Charlie Richmond’s win at Preston Docks extended his lead to 13 points over Ryan Waggott and 18 points ahead of Drew Stock. Hayden Statt lost significant ground at the previous round, but he remains a threat to contend for the win on any given weekend.
It’s been a wild start to the 125cc season, with four different winners across the first four rounds. Ryan Waggott kicked things off with a victory at the opening round at Hawkstone, followed by Jamie Keith’s triumph in Round 2. Unfortunately, Keith has since exited the series due to injury, paving the way for first-time winner Drew Stock to claim the honours at Round 3. Most recently, Charlie Richmond stepped up to claim his first win of the season at Preston Docks – capping off a rollercoaster first half of the championship.
125cc Points:
| 1st | Charlie Richmond | 176 | Yamaha |
| 2nd | Ryan Waggott | 163 | KTM |
| 3rd | Drew Stock | 158 | Yamaha |
| 4th | Hayden Statt | 134 | Yamaha |
| 5th | Harry Lee | 117 | Fantic |
