Jeffrey Herlings reached another career milestone at last weekend’s MXGP in Afyon, Turkey: 50 MXGP wins in the premier class… 111 in total. Remarkable numbers from the five time world champion who, although hasn’t won the championship since 2021 due to injuries sidelining him each season, has proven on every return that he is still able to contend for wins. After missing the entire 2022 season, Herlings has now won four Grands Prix in each season, and with two rounds remaining in this campaign, he has the chance to extend his 2025 tally. Although delighted with his win and statistics, he expressed his want for another MXGP title before retiring alluding to most likely racing for two to three more seasons.
Dutch fans will no doubt be frustrated that the #84 will not be racing this year’s MXoN after finding such rich form approaching the event. We caught up with Herlings post-race in Afyon to discuss missing the MXoN, his admiration for Jett Lawrence, his 50th 450 win, the desire for another MXGP title, and more!
