Young Australian talent Liam Owens finished his 2025 EMX250 campaign on a high, securing back-to-back podiums at the final two rounds in Holland and Turkey to lock in fifth place in the championship standings. Owens struggled with consistency early in the year but gained momentum with his first top-five moto result in Lugo, where he finished fourth. As the season drew to a close, Owens established himself as a regular top-five contender, capping off the year with two podium appearances. The Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna squad have built a strong foundation in the paddock, with all three of their riders finding success on both the EMX and German national circuit.

Owens praised his team, noting that despite working with a smaller budget, they have their priorities in the right places, focused on improving the motorcycle and giving the riders the best possible chance to win. He has committed his future to the team for next season and feels it is the perfect environment to work on his craft and prepare for a step up into the MX2 ranks in the years to come.

We caught up with Liam in Afyon to discuss his 2025 season, his happiness with the team, winter plans, what it’s like moving from Australia to Europe chasing the dream and much more! You can listen to this interview via the Cult Moto Post-Race Podcast show on Spotify (link below).
