The eighth and final round of the ACU British Motocross Championship takes place this weekend in Lyng, with two champions still to be crowned in the MX2 and 125cc classes. The MX1 title was already wrapped up a round early by Crendon Tru7 Honda’s Conrad Mewse. However, with the recent news that both Mewse and Josh Gilbert will represent Team GB at Ironman next month, British fans will no doubt be keeping a close eye on the pair to see how they’re shaping up ahead of the MXoN.

This season’s MX2 action has been nothing short of amazing. Bobby Bruce was victorious at the opening round, with the Dixon Racing rider earning the red plate. Unfortunately, Bruce’s 2025 campaign was derailed by injury, which opened the door for Tommy Searle to take control of the championship lead after round two. Despite holding the red plate since then, Searle’s title hopes looked all but over after breaking multiple vertebrae in his back in Abu Dhabi. However, the field failed to capitalise on his absence at Preston Docks, and in an incredible turn, Searle returned in less than five weeks to win at Landrake and extend his points lead… crazy!

Multiple race winners and podium contenders are set to do battle this weekend in Lyng. At the most recent double-header round in Duns, Joe Brookes claimed his first ever pro race win, adding his name into the mix for the overall victory as well. Searle holds a 29-point advantage over SC Sports Homes Husqvarna rider Charlie Heyman, meaning Heyman will need some luck on his side to close the gap heading into the final moto of the season. Ben Mustoe is another first time race winner this year, and he currently sits third in the championship ahead of lightning quick Spaniard Oriol Oliver.

In the 125cc class, the points situation mirrors that of MX2, with Charlie Richmond holding a 29-point advantage over Ryan Waggott heading into the final round. Richmond has found his winning form after a solid start to the season, taking seven of the last eight motos following five podium finishes in the opening six races. The battle for third place honours in the championship standings is between Hayden Statt and Drew Stock, with five points separating the pair.

It will be an action packed weekend in Lyng, can Tommy Searle capture his first ever British Championship aboard a 250, or will the youth of Charlie Heyman prevail to claim the number one plate!
