Both championship points leaders surrendered ground in the MXGP and MX2 qualifying races today in Darwin. Lucas Coenen grabbed the Fox Holeshot and led every lap en route to his eighth qualifying win of the season. Kay de Wolf moved into the lead in the middle stages after Sacha Coenen had set the early pace.

Romain Febvre holds a 46 point advantage heading into tomorrow, while just 13 points separate Langenfelder and de Wolf in MX2.
