The final MXGP race of the season did not go ahead today in Darwin, Australia, after extreme rainfall soaked the circuit. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings explained the reason behind the decision.
Jeffrey Herlings: “I think it was unsafe, all of us riders together, me Lucas, Tim, Romain, we all fought as this didn’t make sense to race. The championship was decided, P2 was decided, P3 was decided, we have a GP winner as we did the first race in the dry. I think this was the best for everyone, I want to thank Infront as they respected our choice and they made the right decision.”
“Being in Australia, if something was to happen, we are not home in a few hundred kilometres, for safety with the mud, this was better.”
