New Zealand star Cole Davies has confirmed he underwent surgery to repair damaged thumb ligaments after his crash at the opening SMX playoff round in Charlotte. Davies suffered a nasty crash during qualifying at the Las Vegas finale, which he admitted caused further soreness, but he still attempted to line up for the night show. Unfortunately, a collision with another rider meant he decided to sit out the remainder of the evening. Hopefully Davies has a speedy recovery and can knuckle down for the 2026 250SX season, after an incredible debut campaign.

Star Yamaha provided the following update: “Rider Update: Cole Davies undergoes successful surgery to repair UCL tear. “I’ve been dealing with a torn UCL ligament in my thumb since Charlotte, and it’s definitely made riding tough these past few weeks. We tried to push through, but ultimately surgery had to be done. The procedure went really well and recovery is now on track. It’s been a bit of tough luck lately, but I won’t stop fighting. My eyes are already on Melbourne for AUSX and the 2026 season.”
