The 2025 Motocross of Nations is approaching fast, with the motocross world heading to Ironman Raceway next weekend to watch the world’s best battle it out for the Chamberlain Trophy. Prior to the chaos that unfolded for Team USA at the SMX finale in Las Vegas, the fight for the top spot looked to be between them and Australia. Now with Chase Sexton withdrawing, RJ Hampshire stepping in and continued uncertainty around their MX2 rider, Australia head into the event as the reigning champions and heavy favourites.
France, Belgium and the Netherlands are front runners for podium contention. Recently crowned MXGP world champion Romain Febvre leads France into Ironman partnered with Maxime Renaux and MXoN rookie Mathis Valin. Belgium could be heavy sleepers heading in, with Sacha Coenen possessing the ability to potentially run away from the MX2 field and fare well against the 450s. However, there is also the possibility amongst the surge away from the pack, Coenen could fall off his KTM machine. The Netherlands are strong across the board, despite missing Jeffrey Herlings after his return to winning form. Germany roll into Ironman with their newly crowned MX2 world champion Simon Längenfelder, Ken Roczen and Max Spies.
The Cult Moto predictions favour Australia for the win… but second and third is wide open. As we all know, motocross is never straight forward, and there is always chaos waiting to unfold to shake things up.
