Lexa MX rider Josh Gilbert is gearing up to represent Great Britain at the Motocross des Nations for the second time in his career next weekend at Ironman Raceway. Gilbert is fresh off a season competing in ten MXGP rounds and the British Championship, where he finished third in the MX1 standings. An announcement two weeks ago that Ben Watson would be unable to race, after initially making the provisional squad, opened the door for Gilbert to step in. His debut MXoN appearance came in 2023 at Ernée, where he dropped down to the MX2 class, finishing 8th overall and helping Team GB secure 10th place.

Ironman is a track he has raced before and performed well at, finishing 12th overall in 2022 when he raced the Pro Motocross national at the circuit. The result was actually his best result of his American stint, showcasing it is a track that he found quick comfort on. This all stacks towards some optimism for the British fans for a strong result.

“Nothing compares to racing the MXoN so to get the call up is so special” he affirmed. “It’s been a bit of an up and down year but I feel like the later part of the season has gone pretty well and I’m feeling good. Ironman is one of if not my favourite track, it was my best result in the ama there so I’m really excited to come back to Ironman. 2023 nations in Ernee had a crazy atmosphere and I expect it to be even crazier this year, I can’t wait!

The excitement continues to build heading into this weekend, be sure to keep an eye out and support the Brits at Ironman!
