Lucas Coenen showcased his potential to American fans at Ironman, despite some misfortune in his final moto derailing his chance at the MXGP overall win and a podium for Team Belgium. 2–10 moto finishes placed Coenen fifth overall in his class, while the young Belgian team secured fourth overall on the weekend. Racing in front of the American crowd is something both Coenen brothers have eagerly awaited, and it’s heavily rumoured that they have their eyes set on an American racing future in the years to come.

Lucas was open and honest with us at Ironman, confirming that the rumours are true – next season the brothers will compete in MXGP, but their ultimate goal is the AMA series, which could come sooner rather than later.
