For many young riders, racing in MXGP is the ultimate dream. But for some, the path to the World Championship requires far greater sacrifice than for others. Australian EMX250 rider Liam Owens is one of those stories—leaving his family behind to pursue his goals in Europe, where he has been competing with the CAT Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna team since its creation in 2024. His first full season in Europe was derailed by a shoulder injury; however, the young Aussie proved his value overseas in 2025, securing two podiums at the final EMX250 rounds and earning additional silverware in the ADAC championship.
We caught up with Liam to discuss his strong 2025 season, adapting to life in Europe, his MX2 ambitions, and much more!
