Ben Watson has made the switch from Beta MRT to Dirt Store Triumph Racing for the 2026 season, returning to the ACU British Championship and debuting with the team in the MXGP class.
Returning to the British Championship will benefit Watson, in my opinion. Three seasons of being limited from results that reflect his true capabilities, whether due to injury or repeated bike problems, can knock any rider’s confidence and potentially drain some drive and determination if they stay in that environment for too long. Now he has a chance to hit the refresh button, come home, and join a team that has found continuous success in recent years. They delivered Triumph’s first national motocross title in their first year of competing, and now they set their sights on finding success on the TF 450 X in the MX1 class.
Moving over to the MXGP side, Ben now has the chance and the bike to finally show the level he’s capable of. Triumph haven’t been in motocross for long, but they’ve already made big steps in the UK and beyond. More than anything, he will without doubt have more power on his new machine and more reliable parts. So the real question is… how do you think Ben gets on in 2026? Could he be the rider to consistently challenge Mewse every weekend in Britain and become a top ten regular at the European GPs?
