Haiden Deegan’s Anaheim 1 didn’t quite play out as expected after a poor start left him with work to do early on in the 250SX West main event. Deegan fought his way back through the field to finish fourth, narrowly missing the podium on a night where many expected both he and Levi Kitchen to be battling for the win with Max Anstie. Despite the result, Deegan didn’t appear overly fussed post-race, acknowledging a mistake with gate selection while remaining confident in his speed and fitness
Haiden Deegan: “I really made a mistake switching my gate, I should have just stayed where I was at. I was trying to find a better rut, you know, it happens. That’s the first round. One day I’ll hit my luck on this first round, but tonight wasn’t the night, but you know, we’ll get there. Obviously I wanted to win. That’s always the goal. But nah, I’m not tripping. I know how many races we have and still in the top five of the first round. I’m healthy so we’ll just go back to work. And I know I have my starts right. I just, you know, brain fogged on that one. So we get everything back in line and come out swinging next weekend.“
