Young British talent Billy Askew is gearing up for another British MX2 and EMX250 campaign with the Dirt Store Triumph Racing squad, after a solid off-season of testing with latest Dirt Store Triumph signing Ben Watson and reigning MXGP world champion Romain Febvre. 2025 was a step in the right direction in various ways for Askew, achieving his first-ever professional moto win at the opening MXGB round at Hawkstone, alongside multiple podiums and a moto podium finish in the EMX250 class in Trentino.
Like many young riders, Askew had his share of misfortune mixed in with the success, with a serious shot at the British title before crashes and everything in between unravelled the early season momentum he had built. Nonetheless, Askew is at the forefront of the next batch of up-and-coming British riders, with him confirming to Cult Moto that he will take another step forward in his career in 2026. With the team committed to every European based MXGP round with Ben Watson, Askew will also travel to each European round, even when the EMX250 class is not running, to race in the MX2 class. A pivotal step in any rider’s development and an indication of the direction he hopes to take, becoming a full-time world championship racer.
From the benefits of having Watson on the team to his expectations for the new season and the MX2 races, we covered a lot in our 15-minute chat with Billy. Click the link below to listen to the interview and check out our Spotify to hear the longest interviews conducted during the off-season.
