What an opening MXGP moto! Honda HRC PETRONAS’ newest signings, Jeffrey Herlings and Tom Vialle, led the field for the entirety of the race, with the pair swapping positions during the moto before Herlings made a move with three laps remaining to claim his first race win on his new CRF450RW. Vialle finished second, with Romain Febvre in third. Lucas Coenen recovered to finish fourth after a difficult start and a small tip-over while chasing Febvre earlier in the race. Pauls Jonass impressed with a strong and consistent ride to complete the top five, keeping himself in the mix throughout the race.

MXGP Race 1:

MXGP race two saw Maxime Renaux take the early lead, but Tom Vialle soon made a move and looked strong out front. Romain Febvre didn’t take long to move into second, and the race then shifted when Vialle had a small tip-over, dropping him back to third.

Jeffrey Herlings didn’t get the best start but quickly began charging through the field. By the time he reached second he still had around eight seconds to make up to Febvre, but the Dutchman closed the gap and made the pass to secure the race win and a perfect 1-1 on the day.

MX2 race 1 saw the Latvian rookie Janis Reisulis pull the FOX holeshot for the first of the year and hold the lead for the opening laps before being shuffled back to a finish position of fourth. Coenen was second with Triumph Spaniard Guillem Farres third.

MX2 race two saw Liam Everts take the early lead, while drama unfolded in the opening corners as Sacha Coenen went down in a first-lap incident. Defending champion Simon Längenfelder worked his way forward and once in control of the race the German never looked troubled on his way to the win and a perfect 1-1 on the day. Camden McLellan followed him through the pack to secure second in the moto. Guillem Farres came home fourth after a small mistake while battling near the front but still did enough to secure second overall, while Karlis Reisulis completed the top five.
