Guillem Farres had a solid outing at the most recent Grand Prix in Afyon, Turkey, where the Spaniard finished fourth overall on the weekend after securing third place in both the qualifying and race 2. The Factory Triumph rider led the field for the opening six laps of the final race, adding to his tally as he previously won a moto in Germany earlier this year. Although a front runner of the MX2 class, Farres is actually in the middle of his debut full season in the class, despite being 22-years of age. An unexpected offer to race for Star Racing in America swayed him over for the past couple of seasons, competing in both Supercross and Motocross Stateside.
Returning to the MXGP paddock with Triumph, the two year contract will see him complete his final eligible years in the MX2 class with the outfit. Although the #99 is eager and would have hoped for more silverware this season, it certainly has been a strong season for both rider and team. We caught up with Guillem in Afyon to discuss his weekend, how he is finding his debut MX2 season, his happiness with Triumph, aspirations for next season and more!
