New Zealand talent Levi Townley is set for a new chapter in his racing career, making the move to America after signing with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing. Townley has spent the past two seasons competing in the EMX125 class with MJC Yamaha, gaining valuable experience and establishing himself as one to watch within the European paddock.
His journey hasn’t been without its setbacks, however. Townley’s 2025 EMX125 campaign was heavily disrupted by injury, suffering a broken leg at Arco di Trento before breaking the same leg again just as he was preparing to return to racing. The second setback required surgery and brought another lengthy period of rehabilitation, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.
Returning to action in 2026, the Kiwi showed plenty of determination, working his way back into form and securing two podium finishes during the EMX125 campaign. Now, the move to America represents a major opportunity for the young New Zealander as he looks to take the next step in his career under the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing awning.
We caught up with Townley to discuss the move, his time in Europe, his injury recovery and what lies ahead as he prepares for a new challenge in America.
