MXGP GOES ELECTRIC: Brand new electric World Championship in 2026!

We are here at the opening press conference at Round 1 of the MXGP World Championship in Patagonia, Argentina, where the first announcement of the introduction of electric bikes to run separately, but alongside the MXGP series
This class will be a NEW Worldwide Championship, consisting of ONLY electric dirt bikes; which will run alongside the current MXGP Championship, adding a new element to the series, and Motocross as a sport.
Over the past 5-10 years, we have seen other Motorsports introduce electric, such as; Formula E, World Rallycross, MotoE WC, and now MXGP will follow suit.
Whilst there are little details as of yet, and seemingly 2026 feels far into the future, the foundations are in place for an exciting turn in the World of Motocross. We are sure this will mean there will be new and existing manufacturers preparing to field a bike in this class.
