Some bad news has come in this morning that the fantastic Cusses Gorse Motocross track is to close for good on the 30th September 2023 after 22 years in existence.
The full statement from Cusses Gorse MX is below:
“It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce, after 22 years, we will be closing our gates for good on 30th September 2023. The landowner has requested the premises back for agricultural purposes. We have done everything we can to try and change his mind, including asking to purchase the land but to no avail and all options have now been exhausted.
As a family and team we are truly gutted to be closing. We have put blood, sweat and tears in to making the track something to be proud of. We would like to thank all of our loyal riders who have visited us over the years, many of whom we have seen grow from autos to pro’s. We would also like to thank our team of marshals and medics who turn up week after week come rain or shine, some of which have been with us since the beginning.
When we started out we never envisaged the track evolving into what it is today, one of the busiest tracks in the country, over the last 22 years we are proud to have hosted all the major domestic championships, bought outdoor supercross to the UK and this year honoured to have the sidecar GP return to Britain at our venue. We are truly heartbroken that we won’t get to see what the next 20 years would bring.
All booked race meetings and events will still go ahead and we will continue to open for Sunday practice around these. We will continue to keep up our high standard of track prep and maintenance along with some track changes till the last post is pulled out of the ground. We hope to see you all over the summer and look forward to our last season at the track.
Best Wishes,
The Cusses Gorse team”
