RESULTS: 2023 Hawkstone International MX

An exciting weekend back behind the gate in the UK for the annual Hawkstone International MX pre-season race. Jefferey Herlings, Romain Febvre, and Glenn Coldenhoff are just a few of the names that lined up in preparation for the racing season ahead. Adam Sterry, Shaun Simpson, Joel Rizzi and a host of other talented British riders lined up beside them.
MX1
The MX1 class was hotly contested, but a 2-1 finish for Glenn Coldenhoff saw him victorious, as well as an added win in the Superfinal too. He was narrowly edged in Moto 1 by Frenchman, Romain Febvre, who rode solid all day to take 2nd overall, after a 3rd place finish in Moto 2. On the last step of the podium, sand specialist Brent van Doninck, who rode outstandingly all day to finish with 3-4 scores. A 2nd place finish in the Superfinal showed Brent has some serious speed going into 2023.
MX2
The MX2 class was topped by none other than local lad Joel Rizzi. Rizzi rode smooth all day, fighting in the pack with the MX1 riders, and comfortably took home a win, whilst back on home soil after three years. Tru7 Honda rider Jake Nichols had a great display after dropping back to the MX2 class, keeping Rizzi honest in Moto 2, and taking 2nd overall with a 3-2 scorecard. Rounding out the podium was Gabriel SS24 KTM rider, Taylor Hammal, on his first competitive race back after almost two years of injury. Hammal showed good speed all day to pull through the pack, and will take this in his stride to begin the racing season.
