RESULTS: MXGP of Sardinia Qualifying – All classes

Round 2 of MXGP kicked off in Riola Sardo. Jorge Prado started off the day qualifying in pole position for the RAM qualifying race. Followed closely by last years GP of Sardegna’s winner, Calvin Vlaanderen and “The Bullet” Jeffrey Herlings. Prado grabbed another FOX Holeshot in the qualifying race and held on for win 2 of 2 in 2023. Glenn Coldenhoff had a close battle at the end for second, just finishing in front of Herlings. Belgian Brent Van Doninck and Romain Febvre rounded out the top 5.

MX2 saw Jago Geerts keeping his undefeated streak alive qualifying 1st in the timed practice. In the RAM qualifying race, Geerts jumped to the early leading, grabbing his first FOX Holeshot of the weekend, and adding another 10 points onto his championship. Kay de Wolf was strong all race in the deep sand and finished 2nd ahead of Simon Laengenfelder. Thibault Benistant and Kevin Horgmo rounded out the top 5

Round 1 of the EMX 250 Championship also kicked off today. Cas Valk started off taking pole position for the first race of the year. Valk grabbed the early lead in race 1, but by the end of the race, it was Italy’s Andrea Bonacorsi taking the first 25 points on the year. Valk was 2nd just ahead of Quentin Marc Prugnieres. Ivano Van Erp started his first EMX 250 race out strong in 4th with Kay Karssemakers rounding out the top 5.

Round 1 of the WMX Championship also kicked off in the deep sands of Riola Sardo. Lotte Van Drunen qualified in 1st in timed qualifying. Van Drunen started race 1 right at the front and held on to win. Daniela Guillen and Courtney Duncan finished on the podium. Shana van der Vlist and Brit Jans-Beken were 4th and 5th.
