Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Sacha Coenen has arguably the highest ceiling in terms of speed in the MX2 class, but his well documented crashes have certainly hindered his chances of adding more overall and race wins to his tally. The young Belgian has led an incredible 149 laps this season, and has only one overall and three race wins in return, with his third coming most recently in the opening race at the MXGP of Turkey.

Despite the frustration of not notching as many wins as he should have, Coenen has landed on the podium nine times this season. Since his second podium of the season in Lugo, he has secured eight overall podium finishes in the eleven rounds. This is a vital part of the learning curve of moulding into a real championship contender, and although the Coenen camp and fans will no doubt be hungry for the warranted race wins, the 2025 season is proving to be a big step in the right direction for him.

We caught up with Sacha post-race in Afyon, to discuss his ninth podium of the season, finding podium consistency and what he needs to work on to translate his raw speed into race wins. You can watch the interview on the Cult Moto YouTube channel or listen via Spotify.
