There’s a new name joining the MXGP paddock for 2027, with ZXMoto confirming its move into the premier class and revealing an experienced team behind the project.
The Chinese manufacturer has brought in Jacky Martens to oversee its MXGP effort, with the Belgian now preparing for another factory challenge. After spells with Honda and Fantic, Martens will be looking to put his experience to work as ZXMoto takes its first steps on the world stage.
Two riders will lead the charge, with Oriol Oliver and Kevin Horgmo confirmed for the project.
Oliver will be looking to build on what he showed during his first year in MXGP. The Spaniard picked up several top-ten finishes in his rookie campaign before injury brought his season to an early end. Horgmo arrives with established premier-class experience of his own, having regularly featured inside the top ten with Honda Motoblouz SR. The Norwegian now gets a fresh opportunity with a manufacturer making its MXGP debut.
ZXMoto have made no secret of their ambitions, setting a target of reaching the podium within three years. A new manufacturer, a familiar team boss and two established riders .It’ll be interesting to see how this one develops!
